about

This is one of those songs that came to me quickly. I wrote it on The Kentucky side of The Ohio River. I was touring Apalachia a lot in 2013 and 2014 and drinking good moonshine. Hence, the album and song title.

lyrics

I will never ever be the last fool in the rain,
Branches tapping ‘gainst my window pain
Only you could pass me by just to look me up again,
and the only one that’s whispering’s the wind
and the only one that’s whispering’s the wind

I played all the cards I had but they weren’t the ones I’d choose
played until I’d nothing left to lose,
Falling into apathy was the best that I could do..
Here goes one more distillation of the blues
Here goes one more distillation of the blues

Folks are fond of sayin’ that the blues will never die
I could never lick them if I tried
When the cupid’s little arrows smacks right between the eyes
and then love just up and leaves you where you lie

I can’t wait for night to come with the passing of each day
Stellar light have things to tell the a friend would never say
I need only look above when I have lost my way
to be guided by my lucky stars again
to be guided by my lucky stars again

extra
I begin to disappear and I know no reason why,
mistake myself for loneliness sometime

about

Ted Hefko and The Thousandaires New Orleans, Louisiana

Ted Hefko & The Thousandaires stir up an intoxicating brew of the profound and the profane, of virtue and vice and most importantly the volatile in-between. Ted’s songs explore hope and hustlers, saints and strays, drifters and the down-and-out. The band brings these stories to life with the spontaneity of jazz, and the rough-hewn, bare-bones tone of backwoods rhythm and bllues. ... more
